Boston Cricket Club have already started making plans for next season - following the weekend’s disappointment.
The Mayflower men’s hopes of overturning South Lincs and Border League Premier Division leaders Grantham’s five-point lead were ended on Friday night as Skegness Seconds pulled out of their contest against the top team, making the final round a dead rubber.
Captain Tom Baxter (pictured) is already looking to next season, and hopes he can persuade late signings Dave Newman and Ryan Croom to join the club on a permanent basis.
He said: “Newy came in and played the last two games.
“I’m sure he’ll be disappointed to have not been involved as much individually but the team have done the job.
“I hope he stays for a full season next year. At South Lincs and Border level there are not many more destructive batsman.
“He has 12 hundreds at this level. He would be a great signing.”
Turning his attention to Croom, Baxter added: “Croomy has come along and fitted right in.
“He’s only played four games but has been a great asset.
“He’s averaging over 60 in these games and has been a quality player to have on board. I’d love it for him to come back over and all the lads are trying to persuade him to come back for a full season in Boston.”
