Boston Cricket Club’s First XI may be the only unbeaten side in the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division - but captain Tom Baxter continues to play down his side’s title hopes.
Boston made it eight straight wins following Saturday’s five-wicket success against Lindum.
And his side now sit three points behind Stamford Town, who have played an extra match.
“The league position is irrelevant at the moment,” said Baxter (pictured).
“I have a bunch of lads that are enjoying their cricket and winning always helps that.
“I have to admit it is strange that we are not top with our record so far, but Stamford have played a game more and have picked up more points.”
Many onlookers believe the Stamford versus Boston game, in three weeks’ time, could be a title decider.
But Baxter is not having that.
He added: “It will only be a big game if we can get to the Stamford game having won 10 from 10.
“We have two massive games before then with Bourne and Sleaford both being strong sides.”
Reflecting on Saturday’s victory, Baxter added: “To win eight out of eight is brilliant.
“I just hope that run can continue in the following weeks.”
