JONNY Cheer and Josh Newton both smashed centuries as Boston Cricket Club First XI claimed a 161-run victory over Nettleham.

The Mayflower men were in fine form on their home crease, picking up all 20 match points.

However, it was not enough to reclaim second spot as Bourne earned 20 points at Market Deeping.

Grimsby, in fourth, also picked up 20 points, defeating struggling Skegness.

Cheer notched 124 runs off just 120 balls, his innings including 19 fours and two sixes, before he was caught by Jack Bayliss off Daniel Wright.

Not to be outdone, Newton added 105 not out.

He struck 11 fours in his innings.

Matt Poole (17) and Colin Cheer (14) also added good scores to the team total, as Boston set a score that Nettleham could just not match.

In fact, Jack Neil was Nettleham’s top scorer on the day, reaching just 22.

For Boston, captain Paul Timby and Scott Elleray each took three wickets, while Tom Baxter and Elliot Wilson - returning from an eye injury - took who victims each.
