Boston CC Firsts will be desperate to gain their first win since returning to the Lincs ECB Premier when they host Grimsby on Saturday.

“It isn’t a must-win game as we still have 18 weeks left of the season. but Grimsby will be a side that are in the bottom half and a side that we need to look at beating if we want to compete in this league,” captain Tom Baxter said.

Grimsby are eight points above Boston and have one win and two defeats from their three completed games.

Boston will welcome back Scott Elleray, but Kieran Evans and Dave Newman are unexpected to feature.

“Belly (Tim Bell) bowled well with the new ball but Scott will come straight back in and we will look to use Belly in the middle overs to try and tie things up for us,” Baxter added.

Boston and Louth are the only sides without a victory in 2016.

“We need to pick up points and victories,” the skipper said.

“We knew we would struggle in these first four weeks. They are four good sides.

“I like to break it down into small chunks. We will work hard in the week and hope that we are able to put in a top performance on Saturday.”
