Boston CC move up to second after victory at Louth

Louth 1sts 194-8, Boston 1sts 197-3 - Boston won by seven wickets.

BOSTON Firsts moved to second in the Lincs ECB Premier Division after a comprehensive seven-wicket victory at Louth.

After winning the toss, Boston’s decision to bowl soon paid off as the the Mayflower men ripped through the top end at London Road.

Openers Laurence Scott and Nuwan Shiroman managed just one run between them as Scott Elleray bowled Scott and caught Shiroman off Colin Cheer’s delivery.

Elleray also dismissed John Medler for 11 while Jason Collison notched 15 before he was caught and bowled by Tom Baxter.

Louth finally found some resilience with Joe Irving scoring 48 before he was bowled by Andrew Hewitt.

Elleray claimed his third victim when he bowled Stewart West, three rtun s shy of his half century, and Colin Cheer ended Zain Siddiqui’s innings on 41 when his delivery was caught by wicketkeeper Matt Ward.

Baxter then trapped Stuart Barker lbw as Louth finished their innings on 194-8.

In response, Boston reached their winning target with mor than 10 overs to spare.

Jonathan Cheer and Ward set Boston on their way.

Cheer hit 48 off 52 balls before he was bowled by Mark Roberts, while Ward’s 79 - which included nine fours - came to an end when he was caught by Joe Irving off Barker.

Josh Newton chipped in with 27 before he was caught by Roberts off Barker.

But that was it for Louth as Matthew Poole and Paul Timby finished on scores of 20 and 14 respectively to see the Mayflower men to victory, with a score of 197-3.
