Boston Cricket Club First XI skipper Tom Baxter believes that the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division title is now Grantham’s to lose.
The Mayflower men saw their rivals claim top spot in the table following Saturday’s one-run success.
“They should win it now. I can’t see them losing,” said Baxter (pictured).
“The weather may help us out.
“A rained off game could swing it back in our favour though.”
Boston have four matches left to regain top spot, beginning with Saturday’s visit to Skegness.
Baxter added: “We will be looking for 80 points from our last four games.
“Grantham will need 76 points to win the title then and that gives them very little room to slip up.
Grantham may be in pole position for promotion to the Lincs ECB Premier, but Boston have vowed not to give up on their title hopes.
Looking forward to the Skegness clash, Baxter said: “It’s a game we will be favourites in but that means nothing.
“If we play at 100 per cent I believe we can beat any side in this league.
“We dropped from that 100 per cent at times on Saturday and that cost us.
“We should be able to select our strongest 11 for the next few weeks.
“Grantham will know we won’t give up but it is their’s to throw away now.
“They have one hand on the title now.”
