Boston Seconds are beaten as Simpson does the damage

Boston Cricket Club’s Second XI were beaten by six wickets when they entertained Long Sutton on Saturday.

Visiting bowler Rob Simpson proved the difference in this South Lincs and Border League Division One contest at the Mayflower, taking six wickets for the loss of just seven runs as the hosts were all out for 74 within 28 overs.

Rowan Evans (19) and Callum McNulty (13) were the only Boston batsmen to reach double figures.

Long Sutton reached 76 for the loss of just four wickets, those dismissals coming courtesy of Shaun Moore (3-35) and Steve Appleyard (1-13).

Boston Thirds had to concede their SLBL Division Two match at Burgh and District.

Boston’s Sunday Seconds were beaten by one wicket when they hosted Sleaford in the Lincoln League Premier Division.

Saihan Azim (48), Tom Baxter (39 not out) and Kieran Evans (20 not out) helped Boston reach 178-7.

However, Sleaford reached 179-9 with four balls remaining.

Scott Elleray took three wickets, including bowling Kiwi opener Tim McIntosh for a duck, while Baxter and Azim took two victims each.

Boston’s Sunday Seconds lost their Division One match by seven wickets when they travelled to Owmby.

Tim Bell (23) and Michael Troops (21) helped them to 93.

However, the home side posted 94-3 within 28 overs to claim victory.
