Boston United's Church won't alter his ways
Friday, 1pm - ANTHONY Church is in line to return to the Boston United side following his second suspension of the season… but warns he won't be toning his game down.
The midfielder is expected to take to the York Street pitch on Saturday, when Buxton are the visitors in what he describes as a 'must-win' game.
Church missed the first three games of the campaign due to a red card he picked up playing for Ilkeston Town last season.
He has also sat out the past three contests following a sending off in the Boxing Day victory over Stocksbridge Park Steels. But don't expect Church to learn from these suspensions.
He said: "I'm not going to change. I'm very passionate and committed to the team. The gaffers know I wouldn't be the player I am if I tried to change things.
"I'll be the same player because I want us to do well. I came to Boston because I want to help this club go places."
Church admits to being frustrated following weeks of inactivity.
He may have been handed a three-match ban but, due to games being postponed, it will actually be six weeks since he last played a match, should he get a run out on Saturday.
"I'm used to playing football every Saturday, so being out for this amount of time is too much for me," he added.
"It's been hard training every week and knowing I won't feature on Saturday.
"It was annoying watching the team score 10 against Durham and not being able to get in on the act. But it's worse watching your team lose and not being able to do anything about it."
The midfielder hopes to put that right with the arrival of Buxton.
"There's not too many games left. We need to put a big run together if we want to get out of this league," he said.
"We beat Buxton at their place and we need to do it at home, simple as that.
"We can't afford to drop many more points if the teams with games in hand are creeping above us. It's a must-win game."
Mikel Suarez grabbed an 85th-minute header to earn United three points at Silverlands back in October.
The Bucks lost 3-1 at Guiseley on Saturday, ending a run of five consecutive UniBond Premier victories, defeating Nantwich, Hucknall, Burscough, Durham and FC United.
