Reflecting on last year’s 12-game unbeaten run which concluded the campaign, the midfielder has every faith that his side are still among the contenders.

Roberts told The Standard: “If we can have an end to the season similar to last year, it’s possible.

“We’ve still got a chance of winning the title, but if not we’ll go for the play-offs and take last years’ experience into it.”

“If we can put in a good run until then anything can happen, I think we can have a good end to the season.”

United have been one of the in-form teams in the league, winning seven of their last nine matches.

Roberts has been a strong influence during that run, and he is also enjoying his attacking form on the pitch.

“I’m loving it. Really enjoying my football right now,” he added.

“When we play 4-4-2, I’m not given the same allowance to get forward as I am when we play 4-3-3, when you can push on a bit more. Hopefully, I can keep on putting in the performances.”

In that midfield, Lewis Hilliard is also playing extremely well and is earning plenty of plaudits around the Jakemans Stadium, especially from his own teammate.

Roberts said: “He’s a really good player, really good on the ball and he takes his goals well.

“You can see from his corners and free kicks that he’s got good quality delivering the ball.”
