Ex Boston United full back leads England to European football glory

Former Boston United full back John Peacock coached England under-17s to the European Championship title.

Peacock played for the Pilgrims in 1980-81, having signed from Scunthorpe United.

Yesterday he led England to a win in the final of the European Under-17s Championship, with his side beating Holland on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The success in Malta was the second for Peacock, having won the championships in 2010 when Everton and England star Ross Barkley was a member of his side.

The coach made 41 appearances for Albert Phelan’s Boston United side which finished 8th in the Alliance Premier League, now the Skrill Premier in 1980-81.
