Former Leicester City youngster Pepe-Ngoma joins Boston United, as manager Greene expresses desire to maintain relationship with Premier League Sunderland

The 20-year-old former Leicester City youngster agreed to join the club this week, alongside fellow defender Kalern Thomas.

Pepe-Ngoma has also turned out for Corby and Kettering.

Greene’s focus will now turn to acquiring a goalkeeper for the upcoming campaign.

While Greene has stressed his desire to build his own squad, he says that his successful relationship with Sunderland may be maximised again this campaign.

In recent seasons the likes of Liam Marrs, Liam Agnew, David Ferguson, Joel Dixon, Max Stryjek and Dylan McEvoy have all linked up with the Pilgrims via the Black Cats’ academy.

And while the Sunderland players gain vital match experience, Greene says it is a win-win situation for United.

“It’s something that works well,” Greene said.

“Sunderland don’t demand that we play their players, but if we have a situation where we can use good young players to help us out, and not have to worry about paying them, then it’s something we will look at doing again.

“But right now I want to build a squad of our own players for next season.”
