Manager Greene signs two-year deal with Boston United

The Pilgrims boss has led the club to top six finishes in his three full seasons at the Jakemans Stadium, earning play-off places in the past two campaigns.

The deal means the 51-year-old will now be tied down to the York Street club until the end of the 2017-18 season.

And with United looking to move into their new ground on the Quadrant development within the 2017-18 campaign, Greene looks set to be the first man in the new dug-out.

United chairman David Newton told bufc.co.uk: “It has been another exciting season and once we had a fully-fit squad, we went on a great run to secure a second successive play-off position.

“Everybody is obviously disappointed with the outcome in the play-offs, particularly after giving ourselves a great chance following the first leg, but our attentions are already on going one better next season.

“Dennis has done a great job on a limited budget, so he has been rewarded with a two-year extension to his contract.

“He is therefore looking forward to developing the squad over the summer months and ultimately being the first manager to lead the team out at the new Jakemans Community Stadium.”

Mr Newton has also announced a rise in ticket prices for next season, something he believes will help give the club an added edge on the pitch.

However, there will be a price freezer for under 16s.

He continued: “We want to give Dennis the best possible opportunity budget-wise, so we have reluctantly increased ticket prices slightly, which in turn will allow us to increase the playing budget next season.

“Prices have not increased during our nine years at the club, so I hope that fans will understand that costs have increased significantly over that time and there is a need to try to get extra money into the playing budget.

“We also still need to encourage younger fans into the club, so there has been no increase for under 16s.”

Greene said: “I am delighted to extend my time as Boston United manager and I am doubly determined to have another shot at promotion following two really disappointing play-off exits in the last 12 months.

“We will assemble the best squad possible and give everything in what will arguably be the toughest-ever National League North next season.”

Season ticket sales will get under way at 10am on Monday (May 16) and the early bird rate will continue until Saturday, June 11 at 12.30pm.
