The Pilgrims defender and teammate Scott Garner both visited A&E after Wednesday’s 2-0 first-leg victory, following a clash of heads.

While Garner was able to continue before having a gash on the side of his head glued after the full-time whistle, Piergianni’s evening finished with 13 minutes to go, after needing treatment to a cut above his eye and damaged nose.

But with the aerial threat of the Villagers’ giant target man Tom Denton looming, manager Dennis Greene has taken a punt on the centre back, who has been an integral part of his squad so far this campaign.

Boston just need to avoid defeat by more than one goal to progress to Saturday’s final thanks to goals from Grant Roberts and Zak Mills offering them a cushion.

Piergianni’s inclusion means that Greene has named an unchanged squad from the first leg.

Kick off will be at 3pm.
