The Pilgrims host arch rivals North Ferriby United at the Jakemans Stadium this evening (KO 7.45pm), with both teams hoping to be the ones to win promotion from the National League North.

But skipper Garner says his side have just one target - to go out and win.

“I fancy us,” he said. “We get about teams and work for each other, we get great results from it.

“I just think we’re stronger than we’ve ever been.

“We’re getting it together and we’re as strong as we can be.

“We’re a unit, we all fight for one another. There’s no weak link and I’d be surprised if anyone can handle us.”

Boston are the form team going into the play-offs, having won five and drawn one of their last six league contests.

And with right back Liam Marrs hoping to return from an ankle injury, Dennis Greene may also have the rare luxury of a full squad to pick from.

“We want to win the first leg and go into the second leg with a game plan,” added Garner, who believes the current team is stronger than the side which finished third last season.

“We’re at home first and we’ll just go out and try to win it.

“Night games are really exciting at Boston. All games are exciting with our fans.”

Tonight’s contest will be followed up by Sunday’s second leg north of the Humber (KO 3pm).

United secured fifth spot and a play-off place by beating Stalybridge 5-0 on Saturday.
