Boston Cricket Club look to complete double over Grimsby on Saturday

Friday, 12-10pm - BOSTON Cricket Club face Grimsby this weekend looking to do the double over their Lincolnshire neighbours.

Boston have struggled so far this season but recorded a victory over Grimsby by three wickets in May.

Sitting second from bottom in the Lincolnshire Cricket Board Premier League, Boston could do with a win over their mid-table rivals.

Club captain Paul Timby said: "I'm looking forward to the game.

"We really need to get a win under our belts. We beat them early in the season and there's no reason why we can't do it again."

The club is on a high this week after Colin Cheer became the first player in years to represent the county team when he took the field against Norfolk at the weekend.

Paul hopes he will be followed by one or two more in the coming years.

He said: ". It is great for the club. It has been a long time since someone from Boston played for the full county side.

"We have players from the younger age groups but not the full side.

"It's nice to see one but hopefully his brother (Jonathan Cheer) will be not far behind him."

Following Saturday's game the team will be heading to the Isle of Wight for a mid-season four-game tour.

The team leave on its annual tour on Sunday (Aug 8) and return on Friday (Aug 15).
