Boston United players face the axe
Monday, 8.40am - ROB Scott has warned his Boston United players they could be facing the axe.
Speaking after Saturday's 1-0 FA Cup defeat at Ryman Division One side Lowestoft Town, the joint manager accused some of his squad of not having the mentality to cope with big games.
"We may have to shake it up a little bit, and we've told the players that," Scott said.
"We're 11 games in and we've made judgements on all of them.
"Some of the lads we thought had good character, well, when the pressure's on they may not be big enough or strong enough mentally to cope.
"We need to shake things around, get bodies in and bodies out. Were not hiding anything (behind the scenes) – it's just that some aren't good enough.
"Myself and Paul have to take responsibility as we're the ones who brought them in. We knew they had the ability but we didn't know about their mental capacities.
"The problem for some is the six inches between their ears. Some can't handle the pressure of being here. Boston's a big club.
"Some clubs operate like they've got revolving doors. We don't want that. We just want people who will come here and put in a shift."
A Jamie Godbold corner, which swung straight in from the dead ball, was the difference between the two teams in a contest Scott described as 'shot-shy'.
