Boston United win marred by Suarez injury

Wednesday, 10am - UNITED returned to form with an impressive win, marred only by the nasty injury suffered early on by striker Mikel Suarez.

The game was only a minute old when Suarez suffered the injury following a fall but United did not let it affect their game and took an early lead on seven minutes.

Following excellent play from Spencer Weir-Daley, Marc Newsham and Ryan Semple, Jamie Yates drove United in front.

The lead was cancelled out when ex-Pilgrim Jon Froggatt blasted home an excellent free-kick from 20 yards.

Boston responded with a flurry of chances and restored their lead when Weir-Daley slammed home a penalty, having been fouled in the box by Matt Plant.

The Pilgrims extended their advantage when Newsham found space in the box five minutes before half-time to curl home an excellent, angled effort.

United's joint manager Rob Scott was pleased with how the team bounced back from the injury setback. He said: "The dynamics of the team changed after the early injury and our football in the first half was outstanding.

The injury to Suarez is expected to keep the Bilbao-born attacker on the sidelines for a couple of months.

United team: Adamson (Butcher 80), Cullingworth, Jelleyman, Church (Millson 75), Murphy (Ashton 75), Canoville, Yates (Deane 73), Sleath, Suarez (Semple 3), Weir-Daley, Newsham.
