A bowls club has secured £24,768 of Olympic legacy funding towards its new green.

Mareham Bowls Club received the money from Sport England’s Inspired Facilities fund which comes from the National Lottery as part of the £150 million Places People Play legacy programme.

Mareham Bowls Club is one of 310 projects across England to receive investment.

Club chairman Noel Bush said: “We are delighted to have secured this investment, which means we can upgrade the quality of our bowls green to rival the very best greens in the county.

“It is fantastic that our club and visiting clubs will benefit as a direct result of the 2012 Olympics’ legacy.”

He said the green will represent a massive boost for the club which has been running since 1950.

The improvements include new dyke surrounds and a county standard playing surface.
