Tom Baxter is hoping his Boston Cricket Club First XI can bounce back from two frustrating weekends.
Last Saturday, the Mayflower men suffered their first defeat of the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division campaign.
The result saw them slip from top spot - replaced by Grantham, who claimed their scalp - down to fourth place.
And there was more frustration for Boston this weekend as their contest against Skegness Seconds, a side yet to register their first victory of the campaign, was rained off.
Baxter is eager for his side to get back to winning ways when they host third-placed Bourne Seconds... and prove they deserve to be one of the division’s title contenders.
“It should be another good game,” Baxter said. “They are a good, well-drilled young side.
“They beat us twice last year and have improved since then.
“They are a side that we need to be beating if we want to chase top spot in the South Lincs and Border Premier Division.”
On Saturday, Boston were hoping to welcome big-hitting batsman Saihan Azim back to the First XI, and Baxter (pictured) hopes he will again be available this weekend.
“I will hopefully have the same side available this week,” he added. “We have three games until the half way stage and it is important that we are still in touching distance come then.”
