KART racer Callum Sutton’s weekend action in the Junior Max came to an abrupt end - after a collision threw him six feet in the air.

The 16-year-old also needs a new kart after the crash left his written off.

Competing at the GYG track in north Wales, Callum’s B Final race got off to a bad start when he was pushed off track into last place.

But he soon found his stride, making up 10 places to sit in eighth.

However, as he looked to make a top-four finish and a place in the A final, an overtaking manoeuvre saw his opponent steer into him, flipping him into the air and ending his hopes of progressing further.

Callum had never raced at GYG before and was forced to study the course on YouTube.

He now finds himself having to get a new kart in time for the next round, at Rowrah, Cumbria, in three weeks’ time.

Callum is also on the lookout for potential sponsors to aid him through the season.
