Schools from across the area have been invited to take part in a new cricket tournament.

The Fred Trueman State School Cricket League has invested £2,500 into the town, inviting Boston Grammar, Haven High, Middlecott, Giles and William Lovell schools to take part.

BGS and Carres Grammar School, Sleaford, have already agred to take part.

Each of the schools competing - at under 13 and under 15 level - will be supplied with new kit, including bats, pads, gloves, helmets, wicketkeeping kits and balls.

Geoff Hastings, league chairman, said: “We will even find the school a pitch if it doesn’t have one to play on. We don’t want any school not to be able to take part.”

Results of the games will be posted on the www.playcricket.com website and participants will also be invited to watch a Northants T20 match.
