Lindum reached 137-7 in their allotted 18 overs, with William Wright’s 56 the top score.

However, Riley Orr (3-20), Scott Elleray (2-29), Tim Bell (1-23) and a run out from Luke Gilding ate away at the Lindum batting order.

With the bat, openers Jonny Cheer (37) and Dave Newman (17) started the innings off well before Ryan Croom (47), Liam Sparke (18) and Scott Elleray (10) added to the total with notable knocks as Boston claimed victory in the final over.

Things didn’t go Boston’s way on Saturday when they travelled to defending champions Bracebridge Heath, however.

For the whole 50-minute journey, the rain poured down and continued to on the way home.

Both of those journeys were separated by a brief 10-minute spell undercover in the changing rooms as the umpires decided that the pitch was too wet and would not be fit to play.

“It’s one of those things,” said captain Tom Baxter.

“It stopped raining around 1pm, but there was so much water sat on the square that we knew there would be no play on Saturday afternoon.”
