COUNTY CRICKET ROUND-UP: South Lincs and Border Leagues

Only one century was scored on a bowlers’ day in the South Lincolnshire & Border League, Mitch Griffiths hitting an unbeaten 130 for Billingborough 2nd in their Division One victory over Welby, while four bowlers claimed six wicket hauls.

Boston continue to dominate the Premier Division where the top four have now opened up a gap while at the bottom, Moulton Harrox are well adrift but the three teams above them, Long Sutton, Spalding 2nd and Belton Park, are fighting to stay out of the other relegation place.

Paul Timby took six for 29 in Woodhall Spa’s victory over Spalding to keep his side in second place while Rob Simpson’s six for 11 helped Long Sutton to a win over Moulton Harrox.

And Keiran Habron’s six for 55 couldn’t prevent Grantham’s two wicket victory over Sleaford.

Keiran Evan’s unbeaten 79 for Boston was the division’s top score, with seven other batsmen hitting half centuries.

Division One saw the day’s closest game as Lindum 3rd chased a low score of 74 but ended up beating Heckington by just one wicket.

This moved the Lincoln side further away from relegation danger, the two bottom places occupied by Welby and Grantham 3rd who went down to leaders Market Deeping 2nd for whom Nick Andrews took five for 16.

Boston 2nd stay in second place after beating Cavaliers, Mick Troops taking five wickets for Boston.

The top batsmen in Division Two, Grantham 4th’s Jaden Fell, was the only one of his side to reach double figures.

The 13 year old hit 62 as his side were bowled out for 109 by leaders Timberland who went on to win by eight wickets.

Timberland remain locked in battle with Baston for the division championship, Baston still three points behind after Adam Hilless took six for 14 in their 10 wicket win over Graves Park.

A tight game at Belton Park saw Spalding 2nd win by just 11 runs after scoring 191 for seven, Kingsley Ripley making 54.

James Offer hit 50 for Belton Park 2nd but the final wicket fell just short of the target with only four balls of the innings remaining.
