Boston Cricket Club Firsts are preparing for two crunch away games as they look to take strides closer to the South Lincs and Border League Premier Division title.

The Mayflower men currently hold a 29-point lead at the top of the table.

But if their dreams of earning a place in the Lincs ECB Premier are to become reality they will have to prove their worth at fourth-placed Bourne Seconds on Saturday, followed by a clash at second-placed Sleaford Seconds seven days later.

Boston will also head off to Bourne without leading run scorers Dave Newman (pictured) and Ben Vella, both being unavailable for selection.

“Clearly we will not be as strong as we would hope, but it gives two others the chance to come in and show they are up to it,” said skipper Tom Baxter.

Boston will be hopeful of recalling Shahan Azim to the First XI.

“Bourne are a very good side in this league and we will need to be on our game if we are to beat them,” Baxter added.

“We may be missing a couple of players but I am still sure that if the 11 we select play to the best of their ability, then we will pick up another victory.”
