PAUL Deans took five wickets as Boston Seconds ripped through the Stamford Town batsmen.

Deans claimed his victims for the loss of just 10 runs in his 12 overs.

He was aided by Paul Kelly (3-28) and Haffi Mazhar (2-16) as the visiting side were dismissed for 96 runs in less than 39 overs.

Gary Peck (23), Phillip Holland (17) and Jon Morley (10) were the only Stamford players to reach double figures.

Meanwhile, Paul Tether, Matthew Hood, Deans and Mazhar also chipped in with important catches.

With the bat, Boston reached their winning total in the 35th over, but they didn’t have it all their way.

Chris Birch did most of Town’s damage, dismissing the first five Boston batsmen – Peter Moore (four), Matt Hood (18), Luke Gilding (15), Kieran Evans (two) and Peter Mitchell (zero).

Paul Tetther was run out for seven before 11 from Sam Major and 26 not out from Louis Goulder eased Boston to victory.

BOSTON’S two Sunday teams saw their matches cancelled this weekend.

In the Lincoln and District Premier Division, the Sunday Firsts’ clash at home to Market Rasen fell foul of the weather.

The Seconds’ trip to Scothern in Division One suffered the same fate.
