Evolution duo receive call-ups to the Great Britain squad after impressing at trials

Kickboxers Nesta Baxter and Mark Baldry have both been selected to fight for Great Britain.

The pair both represent Boston’s Evolution Martial Arts club - and will compete at the WAKO World and European Championships in their categories.

Nesta, 15, and Mark joined fellow clubmates and seniors Kevin Hunter in being invited to train at the Kickboxing GB Squad Training Camp, held at the Lilleshall National Sports Centre.

The first day consisted of a gruelling fitness test, sparring drills and movement assessments.

Day two began with a 5k run, followed by technical drills, sparring and official GB fight offs.

At the end of the training camp both Nesta and Mark, who are both current British champions, were selected to represent the team after some tough competition.

Nesta will be competing in San Sebastian, Spain, at the WAKO European Championships from August 23-30 in the -55kg girls’ older cadet (13-15years) light continuous and the -55kg girls’ older cadet (13-15 years) points fighting sections.

Mark will be representing Great Britain at the WAKO World Championships in Dublin, Ireland, from November 22-29.

He will be competing in the -94kg adult veteran men’s light continuous.
