Evolution fighters strike gold

Evolution Martial Arts fighters claimed four gold medals at an international kickboxing event.

Fighting at the WON Watford Open against competitors from 11 European nations , 17 fighters ranging in ages and abilities represented the Boston club.

The club also returned with a silver and eight bronzes, placing them 13th overall.

The first two golds were won by Boston international fighter Nesta Baxter, who competed and won in the ladies’ +17 years -58kg continuous category and the girls’ -17 years -58kg continuous.

Nesta also competed in the girls -17 years -55kg points, in which she narrowly missed out on the gold in the final.

Mark Baldry, who is also part of the WAKO Team GB squad, also struck gold in the men’s veterans +75kg continuous.

Lee Brocklesby claimed the last gold of the day for Team Evolution at only his fourth competition.

Competing in the men’s open weight points section, he finished on top of the podium.

Ten-year-old Mackenzie Warrant earned bronze in the boys’ -37kg - 17 years points.

Further bronzes were awarded to Zac Baldry in the boys’ -47kg -17 years points, Leilo Tate in the boys’ -25kg point, Olivia Green in the novice girls’ -50kg points, Rhys Coleman in the men’s +17 years -60kg point, Chelsea Leggatt in the ladies’ +17 years +65kg points, Toni Hunter in the ladies’ +65kg veterans points and John Chambers in the men’s veterans’ +75kg points.

Finishing in runner up-positions were Kyle Green, Talon Chambers, Paige Stedman, Riley Brocklesby, Teegan Aldis and Tammy Horton.
