Mark Angel is calling on his Boston Town side to get over their FA Cup hangover by making it a hat-trick of league victories.

With two contests played, the Poachers sit on top of the UCL Premier following wins against Oadby and Harrowby.

But on Saturday early momentum was brought to a halt with a 6-1 defeat at Deeping Rangers in the Emirates FA Cup.

Now Angel wants his squad to bounce back as they face a test at Cogenhoe United (KO 3pm).

“The boys have started really well in the league with two good wins, but it will be a tough game on Saturday,” Angel said. “I’ve spoken to friends about them and they say they’re a good side.

“But on our day we can beat anybody, we’ve got a very good side.”

Cogenhoe currently sit 17th after two matches following a 4-2 defeat at Sleaford Town and a 3-3 home draw with AFC Kempston Rovers.

However, they picked up their first win of the campaign as they thumped Bedford 6-0 in the FA Cup.

Boston will also be in action on Tuesday night with a further league fixture at Peterborough Northern Star, who have also picked up a point from two league matches so far (KO 7.45pm).

Reflecting on Saturday’s FA Cup loss, Angel added: “I know it’s disappointing for the club as there are financial rewards with winning.

“But the game was a lot closer than the scoreline suggested.”
