Boston Town 0 Lincoln City 4: Poachers kick off warm-up matches with defeat

Boston Town’s first pre-season friendly saw them go down 4-0 to a well-drilled Lincoln City XI.

With a handful of players unavailable, the Poachers had no recognised strikers.

However, they began brightly with Jason Field’s volley hitting the bar and Loz Lambley forcing a save after being teed up by 17-year-old Frazer Bayliss.

Field again hit the bar, while Lori Borbely’s goalbound effort was blocked.

The Imps took the lead when, on the break, a header was looped over keeper Ricky Drury.

Callum Stocks’ strike was well saved and James Reed, officially still a Boston United player, set up Joe Daubney, who headed over.

Lincoln then struck the Poachers’ crossbar.

With Town now fielding a near-unrecognisable line-up, defensive mistakes would see the Imps capitalise and register three more times before the end of the game.
