Boston Town’s hopes of building upon last week’s first victory in the UCL Premier division were ended by a narrow home defeat to Wellingborough.

Jason Turner scored the only goal of the game in the first half, while Town saw midfielder Ollie Pinner sent off with 10 minutes remaining for an elbow on Doughboys captain Stuart Smeathers.

It’s not been a great week for Boston managers Matt Hocking and Ian Dunn, who had targeted six points from the past seven days.

The postponed contest against Holbeach United in midweek and the weekend defeat leaves the club in 16th, just above the relegation zone.
