BOSTON Town knocked holders Blackstones out of the Lincs Senior Trophy on penalties - following a thrilling 4-4 draw.
It was also a chance for the Poachers to avenge their UCL Premier Division defeat at London Road earlier this month... and book a second round clash against fiery derby rivals Holbeach United.
On Town’s previous visit, Stones won 1-0.
On this occasion, it was goals galore.
Danny Barker gave Blackstones the lead after 11 minutes, the same man doubling the score with a long range curler in first-half stoppage time.
But Boston’s fightback was instant, Lori Borbely smashing home from 20 yards before the half was over.
Two minutes after the re-start and Town were level as Alex Beck’s shot squeezed beyond Stones keeper Lee Crockett.
The Poachers took the lead for the first time in the 63rd minute as Gary Bull converted from the spot after Borbely was fouled by Jacob Smitheringale.
Blackstones levelled after 66 minutes when Smitheringale’s cross was dropped by Chris Wright, with Elton Holmes gifted a simple finish.
Boston thought they had won it with 13 minutes remaining as Tom James’ shot was deflected over Crockett.
But with a minute remaining, Ben Easson was felled by Wright and Michael Nelson squared the tie from the spot.
Progression then went down to sudden death and the dreaded penalty shoot-out.
Borbely, James and Kieran Davies converted Town’s first three spot kicks.
For Blackstones, Easson and Barker did likewise, before Matt Cox struck the woodwork.
With Craig parker slotting home for Town and Nelson replying for Stones, Billy King kept his nerve to book the Poachers a second round clash with fellow Yellowbelly rivals Holbeach.
