ADAM Millson will want to show Boston United’s management he has what it takes for the Blue Square Bet North as he faces former club Stamford tonight.
The Pilgrims travel to the Vic Couzens Stadium for their third pre-season friendly (KO 7.45pm).
Millson, who was the Pilgrims 2009 Player of the Year and 2008 Youth Team Player of the Year, is back at Boston on trial.
With the Pilgrims still suffering a shortage of bodies in the centre of the park, Millson is hopeful he can earn a return to the Jakemans Stadium.
And the omens look good for a player who has been asked to return tonight, after fellow trialists Alex Thompson, Matt Hocking and Jamie Stevens have been told they don’t have a future with United.
Millson was part of the Stamford team that beat Boston in the Lincs Senior Shield final last season, but will return to his old stomping ground knowing a decent performance could seal his return to the Pilgrims.
Liam Parker, who was also at Stamford last season, will turn out for Boston, having signed on last week.
Simon Clark’s Evo-Stik South side will include ex-Pilgrims Nick Jackson, Stuart King, Dan Cotton, Lee Beeson, Dan Steadman and Gary King.
Ironically, the friendly was agreed as part of the deal which brought Shaun Pearson to United in 2009.
The Pilgrims and Grimsby are currently caught up in wranglings after the defender left town for the Mariners, with a fee to be set by a tribunal.
