Dayle Southwell bagged his 50th Boston United goal - before declaring ‘I want more.’
The former Grimsby Town man slammed home a 22-yard drive as the Pilgrims beat FC United of Manchester 2-1 on Saturday, meaning the club’s play-off destiny is now in their own hands.
The forward’s landmark goal came in just his 81st appearance for Boston, since arriving in the summer of 2014.
“It’s a massive achievement for me. I never expected to get 50 goals for Boston,” a delighted Southwell said.
“Hopefully, I can carry on and get more.”
The finish was Southwell’s 20th of the campaign, and despite thinking what could have been had he not suffered a broken foot and a hamstring injury, he is now setting his sights on two further targets.
“It’s frustrating for me as I’ve missed eight games this season,” he added.
“But the main thing is that we push on and get the play-offs now.
“If we get in the play-offs then, hopefully, I can get 25.
“I feel I can score every game now.”
