Liam Agnew has given his support to Boston United manager Dennis Greene.
The Pilgrims boss received a mixed response from the Pilgrims fans following his side’s 3-2 defeat against FC United of Manchester on Saturday, the side’s sixth loss in eight National League North contests.
While some suporters gathered to call for the manager to quit, others applauded him from the pitch.
But Agnew - who rejoined the club last week but previously played for Boston while on loan from Sunderland - gave his boss the thumbs up.
“I know what the club’s about, the support’s great,” he said “I know the ambition here, and for me the club should be in a higher league.
“Yes, we haven’t had the best of starts this season, but I’m confident we’ll turn that round.
“Another reason I signed was the gaffer. You either love him or you hate him - and I love him.
“He’s always been fair to me, and honest. It’s a pleasure to work under him.”
