Boston United 1 AFC Telford United 1: Ratings

Rarely troubled: Ashley Timms

Boston United earned a draw with title favourites Telford following Peter Bore’s wonder goal. But how did the players rate?

Ashley Timms - 7 (out of 10)

Life must be quite dull for the big man in pink. Once again he conceded from the spot, and once again he was given little else to do as his defence guarded him well. Great distribution, but we’re yet to see the best of him.

Peter Bore - 8

Well, he’ll never score a better goal than that - beating Ryan Young with a 35-yard dipper. But Bore’s bread and butter is defending, and he did the job superbly once again.

Netan Sansara - 7

Steadily went about his business. Up and down the left flank like a yo-yo, and carved out a great opportunity for Marc Newsham with an inch-perfect cross.

Conor Marshall - 8 STAR MAN

Relishing his freer role as the Pilgrims’ engine room. He broke down Telford attacks and even tried his luck from distance. Has he found his natural position?

Scott Garner - 7

Conceded a penalty and was twice guilty of letting Tony Gray get goalside of him. But Garner’s not afraid to do the ugly stuff and regularly put his head in where lesser men wouldn’t dare. Also went close from set pieces.

Carl Piergianni - 8

Piergianni played most of the match with a bandaged head after an early collision with teammate Marshall. But he showed no signs of pain as he put in a consumate performance in the heart of defence. The central defender knew exactly when to break ranks, step forward and end the Bucks attacks.

Ian Ross - 7

Ross is the man behind the clever set plays and wasn’t afraid to try something different. Tonight they didn’t come off, but he caused Telford some nervy moments.

Ben Milnes - 7

Came close with a low strike. Ran constantly and almost set up Garner with a corner.

Marc Newsham - 7

Not really given a clean sight of goal. However, he worked tirelessly, showing his physical attributes in the battle.

Ricky Miller - 7

Lashed an early effort over. Looked to tire in the second half but ran his heart out and pressurised the Bucks defence regularly.

Spencer Weir-Daley - 7

Had a point to prove against the club which gave him two starts in six months. Came close with a curler and a stinger which Young held well.

SUBSTITUTES:

Ben Fairclough (for Miller) - 7

Should have been awarded a penalty when Chris Lever forced him down. Referee Ian Dudley was too far from play to blow.

James Reed - 5

Last minute replacement for Ross. Little time to make an impact but got stuck in.

Subs (not used): Stefan Galinski, Jordan Nuttell, Sam Vince.
