Boston United were beaten 3-2 by Bradford Park Avenue, but how did the players rate?

Ashley Timms - 7 (out of 10)

Going 2-0 down within 10 minutes can affect any keeper. Instead, Timms seemed to rise in stature, pulling off good first-half stops to deny Chib Chilaka and Nicky Boshell. His kicking began a little suspect but improved throughout.

Peter Bore - 6

Paul Walker’s movement got the better of the right back for Bradford’s second goal. But Bore put in another competent display.

Netan Sansara - 7

Having to mark Chib Chilaka could mean a bad day at the office for many a left back. The powerful attacker was in fine form, but he could have tormented Boston even more were it not for a number of perfectly-timed sliding tackles and toe pokes from Sansara.

Conor Marshall - 6

Should he have shot? With the ball at his feet in the penalty area the midfielder looked to tee up a teammate. Apart from that, it was routine stopping from the burly Marshall.

Scott Garner - 6

A head wound ended Garner’s night in the 73rd minute, but he had made an important early block to deny Boshell.

Carl Piergianni - 6

Didn’t look himself in the early exchanges. But a good block saw a Chilaka effort squirm wide. Grew in stature throughout the contest.

Ian Ross - 7

The captain was marking his 101st appeareance and looking for his third goal in as many matches. A firm left-footed strike almost saw that happen in the first half and Lamb did well to divert his free kick.

Stefan Galinski - 6

Making just his second start of the season, the defender was promoted to midfield. Asserted himself well and wasn’t going to shirk a challenge.

Ricky Miller - 7

So lose with his effort which beat Lamb but struck the inside of the post. Miller made good runs into the channels, switched flanks and kept the visitors guessing. Won United’s penalty.

Marc Newsham - 8

Give Newsham a sniff of goal and he won’t disappoint. The striker grabbed his seventh of the season to open the Pilgrims’ account with a special 25-yard lob and fired home number eight from the spot - STAR MAN.

Spencer Weir-Daley - 7

The first Pilgrim to test keeper John Lamb with a stringing strike. He came close with a zinger after the break and teed up Newsham for his first goal.

Ben Milnes (for Garner 73) - 6

Back from injury and took time to get involved. A fully fit Ben Milnes was missed tonight.

Ben Fairclough (for Weir-Daley 81) - 5

Saw a late, late lob drift just wide. Made a pacy impact.

Charley Sanders (for Marshall 89) - 5

A late chance went begging.
