Boston United snapped up three new signings last night...and tied down striker Marc Newsham to a new deal.

Newsham, 27, has signed a one-year deal with the Pilgrims with an option for another year. He has 107 goals for the club and will be needed to bear the goalscoring burden with last season’s top scorer Ricky Miller signing for Luton Town.

The contract news came as three new additions were made to Dennis Greene’s squad.

He captured former Scunthorpe United left-sider Connor Smythe, 18, as well as ex-St Neots Town winger-cum-striker Kaine Felix, 19.

Greene also swooped to sign highly rated former Hull City midfielder Jack Barlow.

The 19-year-old had been snapped up by The Tigers from Grimsby Town for a six figure sum.

Greene told The Standard: “It’s difficult to go to a Premier League side at 17 and bridge that gap. He’s obviously got that potential and will hopefully fulfil that at Boston.”

The signings come as the Pilgrims prepare for to face a Norwich City X1 on Saturday, the first of their series of showpiece friendlies against Championship and Premier League opposition, with Sunderland, Nottingham Forest and Aston Villa to come before the Conference North campaign kicks off.
