Dennis Greene has described Boston United’s 2-0 victory over Leamington as the ‘perfect performance’.

After taking seven points from the opening three Skrill North matches, the Pilgrims boss cuts a happy figure.

But even after watching his side win 4-1 at Stockport County and draw 1-1 with fellow title favourites AFC Telford United, he says beating newly-promoted Leamington is the pick of the bunch.

“I think that’s the best performance so far, a perfect performance,” Greene said.

“We’ve passed the ball well and dominated from the kick off.

“We’ve got to make this place a hard place to come and you do that by keeping clean sheets.

“You build from the back.”

Ricky Miller and Marc Newsham grabbed the matchwinning goals.

At one stage it looked like it wasn’t going to be Newsham’s day as last season’s leading scorer balloned an effort over and struck the post.

“I was delighted to score. It was one of those days for me, I probably should have had four,” Newsham admitted.

“We looked solid at the back.

“I didn’t think it was going to be my day when I hit the post but Peter’s (Bore) got good whip on the ball and I got across the defender, just gambled, and it went in.”
