Boston United boss Dennis Greene is confident his new-look squad will be ready to take on a ‘strong’ league next season.

With AFC Telford United, Barrow and Stockport County joining following relegation, and Leamington, Hednesford Town and North Ferriby United promoted to the northern section, Greene (pictured) believes it’s going to be a tough campaign ahead.

But he believes his team, which involves several new players - with more in the pipeline - is going to be ready.

He said: “The way I look at it, if you believe you’re bringing in better than what you have lost it’s got to be an improvement.”

However, with several weeks yet to go Greene is still building, and is looking for a left back, a centre half and a forward - ‘if we’ve got the budget’.

He said he had been looking into a number of transfer targets but was not prepared to consider players who were simply after a pay day.

“Some people want £25 here, £25 there and if they’re not going to come to Boston for the sake of £25they’re not right for Boston,” he said.

The Conference North season in 2013-2014 will get under way on Saturday August 17.

Three midweek slots are currently scheduled for August 20, September 17 and October 8, while action will also take place on Bank Holiday Monday (August 26), Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and Easter Monday (April 21).
