Carl Piergianni has signed a two-year deal with Boston United.
The defender - voted the season’s Players’ Player of the Year - has pledged his future to the Pilgrims after a succesful debut campaign.
“We’ve had discussions and I definitely want to be here,” said Piergianni, who joined the club from Corby Town last summer.
Looking back at the last nine months, the ever-reliable centre back is still amazed that the Pilgrims didn’t finish the season in the Skrill North play-off zone.
Despite a nine-game unbeaten run ending at Worcester, Guiseley’s 3-1 win against Gloucester City on Saturday was enough for the Lions to pip Boston to fifth spot.
“We ended really strongly,” Piergianni added.
“The season we’ve had, the points tally we’ve had, how we’re not in the play-offs I don’t know.
“It’s disappointing when you look at it like that, but with this squad I think that next season we’ll be very strong and teams will be very worried about us.
“It’s harsh on us. We’ve had a great year.”
Boss Dennis Greene said: “We are delighted to keep hold of Pidge — and hopefully this is the start of an exciting summer.”
