ANTHONY Church believes Boston United have appointed the right men to lead them into the Blue Square Bet Premier.

This week, Pilgrims chairman David Newton handed the full-time managers’ roles to Jason Lee and Lee Canoville.

The pair had been acting as caretaker bosses since the departure of Rob Scott and Paul Hurst, who left to join Grimsby Town - taking United to the Blue Square Bet North play-off semi-finals, before going out to Gusieley on penalties.

“This is a big club and should be at a higher level, there’s no debating that,” said Church.

“Jason and Canners have done a fantastic job for us here.

“A lot of people thought we would capitulate when Rob and Paul left.

“Lots of teams with less character and spirit would have done, but we didn’t.

“Jason and Lee are good managers who have done a good job so far.

“I think they can do a good job again.”
