Boston United earned a 3-1 win over lower-league Dereham Town this afternoon to book their place in the next round of the FA Cup.
The Pilgrims took an early lead through Dave Fallah and, despite being pegged back by Luke Tuttle’s effort on 40 minutes, went into the break leading 2-1 thanks to a Dayle Southwell header.
The victory over their Norfolk opponents – who operate in the Ryman North league two levels below Dennis Greene’s men – was rounded off in the 70th minute by man-of-the-mathc Zak Mills.
The win was not the only positive for the Pilgrims either, as striker Marc Newsham came off the bench in the second half to mark his return from injury.
Notts County loanees Kyle Dixon and Greg Tempest both featured – Dixon from the start and Tempest as a late substitute.
Team: Vince; Mills, Garner, Galinski (Tempest), Steer; Marrs, Dowie, Meadows (Felix); Dixon; Southwell, Fallah (Newsham).
