BOSTON United Reserves have won the Lincolnshire League title.
The Pilgrims’ second string earned a 1-1 draw at home against second-placed Cleethorpes Town, effectively ending the seasiders’ hopes of overtaking United.
This meant Lincoln United Reserves, in third, were the only side able to challenge the Pilgrims for the title, but their 1-0 home defeat to CGB Humbertherm saw their hopes dashed.
Stuart Whitaker gave Boston a 75th-minute lead against Cleethorpes, who drew level five minutes later through Mark Sawyer.
The title means that Glen Maddison’s side have lifted the Lincs League title in their first season since the second team was brought back to the club.
And Boston’s draw was all the better as leading scorer Mickey Stones, defender Tom Ward and keeper Ricky Drury were all unavailable as they travelled with United’s first team squad to Telford.
The Pilgrims Reserves have four games left to play.
Swineshead bounced back from their 2-0 midweek defeat to United with a thumping 11-3 victory at Grimsby Borough Reserves.
