The date for Boston United’s Lincolnshire Senior Shield final against Gainsborough Trinity has been moved.

The Blue Square Bet North rivals will now go head-to-head at the Northolme on Tuesday, April 30 (KO 7.45pm).

A provisional date for the contest was set as April 25, but that has been moved due to Trinity’s hopes of being involved in the play-offs ending.

United last lifted the shield when they won 1-0 at Grantham Town in 2009-10.

The last two seasons have seen United lose out in the final, on penalties to Stamford and 2-0 at Grantham last year.

Next season, a restructure will see United and Trinity join Lincoln City, Grimsby Town and Scunthorpe United in the Lincolnshire Senior Cup.

United have beaten Trinity 2-1 at home and drawn 1-0 away in the league.
