Boston United will take on a Nottingham Forest side at the Jakemans Stadium on July 21.

The fixture is the latest pre-season encounter to be announced for Dennis Greene’s men, following yesterday’s news that the Pilgrims will take on an Aston Villa side on July 19.

The visiting Forest XI will be largely made up of under-21 players, although may include some of the Championship club’s first teamers.

Former England under-21 boss Stuart Pearce is returning to the City Ground this summer and has said he wants to bring young talent through from the academy, so will be keen to run the rule over young hopefuls as he builds his squad for the new season.

Forest took on the Pilgrims in pre-season in 2005, when Gary Megson’s squad featured a young Spencer Weir-Daley, who came off the bench in a 0-0 draw.

The July 21 clash will kick of at 7.30pm.
