Boston United suffered a 1-0 defeat at Chester FC, who were crowned Blue Square Bet North champions.
Lewis Turner hit the matchwinner a minute after half-time.
This was the Blues’ third consecutive promotion, but for United they found themselves at someone else’s party yet again.
Last season a 4-1 defeat at Hyde saw the Pilgrims look on as their hosts celebrated winning the title.
And once again, they were the side whose defeat - along with Guiseley’s 1-0 loss at Brackley - crowned the champions.
Boston are the only side to beat Chester in league action this season.
In September they stormed into a 3-0 lead, only for two goals within four minutes of the re-start to give the Blues a sniff of a result.
Yet again, it was a case of Boston picking the ball out of their net following the half-time team talk.
This time, the unmarked Turner headed beyond Dan Haystead.
