Hotshot Dayle Southwell wants to improve on last season’s 30-goal haul for Boston United.
The former Grimsby Town striker marked his first full season in senior football by becoming one of just two Pilgrims to net 30 goals in a season in 23 years.
For many observers, Southwell’s impressive tally would take some beating, but the forward remains greedy for more goals.
“I’m always aiming to improve and to score more goals, so it’s possible,” Southwell said. “Obviously, I was playing with an injury for two or three months last season, so if I can stay fit then I will want to get more goals.”
The 21-year-old is currently going through a daily rehabilitation schedule as he overcomes a hernia operation. But he is aiming to be back in action for the club’s pre-season matches.
“I get frustrated when I can’t train properly,” he added. “I love scoring goals, in games, training or wherever.
“I can’t wait to get back.”
Marc Newsham also reached 30 goals in the 2012-13 campaign, with Gary Jones netting 31 times back in the 1991-92 campaign.
