Charley Sanders believes he needs to use pre-season to show manager Dennis Greene he’s capable of grabbing the goals which can see him force his way into the first team.
The 18-year-old has already been told he’s the boss’ first-choice target man, but the youngster is still demanding more from his performances.
“I need to get the goals coming thick and fast to get into the first team, so I need as many goals as I can to show the gaffer I can make and impact when I come on, or if I start,” Sanders said.
“I’ve worked really hard in the gym and in pre-season, I want to show him I’m good enough.
“I’m looking to be the main target man, I feel I can work a bit more on my strength so I can deal with the physicality of the league. But I’ve got to keep working hard.”
The striker added: ““On an individual note, I want to prove I’m good enough to start every game.
“My strength is one of my main attributes.

“I wont be able to play as many youth team games, so I have to work as hard as I can so I don’t lose my fitness.”
