Dennis Greene said he was embarrassed after watching his Boston United side taken apart at AFC Fylde.

Today’s 9-2 drubbing was the club’s heaviest defeat since a n 8-0 dismantling at bath City in 1999.

“Every single goal was basically not tracking runners or picking up people in the box,” the manager said.

“It was like a Sunday morning - ‘you have a shot this time’.

“We were our own worst enemy today, but the positives we can take is going away from home we can score goals.

“If we can just defend as a team, it’s not just the defenders, then we can cut this out.”

The result leaves Fylde still top of the National League North, with Boston down to 17th and four points clear of the drop zone.

“I’m embarassed, I feel sorry for the fans,” Greene added.

“All of us today weren’t up for it, whether it’s poor from me for playing three at the back or whatever, we didn’t have the desire.”
