BOSTON United Reserves retained the John Rawdon Memorial Trophy on Friday evening.
Martyn Bunce’s Pilgrims were 4-2 victors over Lincs League rivals Horncastle Town in this annual pre-season contest.
United were buoyed by several outstanding individual performances.
Boston went 1-0 down after seven minutes.
But they needed just three more minutes before man-of-the-match Michael Gardner slotted home a well-taken one-on-one with the Horncastle keeper.
In the second half, United started where they left off and dominated play.
However, Horncastle scored against the run of play with a long-range shot after 53 minutes.
Kieron Elliott continued to impress and on 65 minutes he scored the goal of the game with a long-range left-footed drive, through a crowd of players and into the bottom corner.
Liam Ogden created a chance for himself with some tricky footwork on 79 minutes.
And his turn on the edge of box gave him space to smash into the roof of net.
The game was finally finished off on 86 minutes when Dominic Thelen scored an individual goal, rounding several opponents before finding the net.
UNITED: Vince, Butler, Nuttell (Steadman 60), Sturman, Price, Beauchamp, Lester (Elliott 50), Ogden, Plattern, Eustace, Gardner (Thelen 80).
